Kate Pittas

Kate Pittas is a Brisbane based artist inspired by Australian flora & botanical forms. Her approach is semi abstract, with a focus on capturing the movement & energy of the plants along with the mood & atmosphere of each season. Kate is influenced by her love of being outdoors, immersed in nature & often paints with a variety foliage and flowers strewn across the studio. This helps her to inject a little of the essence of the plants she paints into each piece of art.

As a mother of three young children, Kate paints with a certain spontaneity, reflective of her busy family life. Gestural marks & lashings of colour are indicative not only of the natural world that inspires her, but of the energy & joy of her three children.

Kate is supporting Rural Aid.  https://www.ruralaid.org.au

Rural Aid was founded in 2015 to provide a holistic support program to rural Australia.   Weather events such as drought, fires and cyclones mean that there is even more call for their services. They have a number of programs designed with rebuilding and repairing in mind. These include the Farm Rescue and Farm Army programs seeing thousands of volunteers give their time to support rural communities, the Gift of Music bringing the joy of music to the bush and mental health counsellors helping reduce stress, domestic violence, suicide, and supporting overall mental health in rural communities.
